Jumping in at the deep end

At the moment I have a full time job with a local charity.  I’ve been there nearly 5 years to the day and although I’ve loved my job to a point, I need a new challenge and I finally feel I I’m ready to do something new and be my own boss.   It’s time to move on – however I know I could be jumping out of the fire and into the frying pan in launching Flyinglady.  In these rough economic times, I know a lot of people would think it unwise to take a leap into the unknown.

I’m not stupid – I know to leave my job with nothing to go to is a risky move.  That’s why I’ve started laying some foundations now and I won’t resign from my job until I’m reasonably confident that I can make it work.  I’m building up this website in whatever spare time I have – at the moment my aim is a page or two minimum a week, plus regular posts.

I’m trying to get together material, business profiles etc that I can send to some trusted contacts and hopefully get a feel for what might be possible.  If I get a good response, I’m planning a launch event in the Autumn and maybe give some taster sessions to generate some interest.

I’ve not felt this motivated for a long time but I know businesses take a long time to grow and I’ll take it one step at a time – and jump when I know I can swim.
